Review: Guerlain Météorites Teint Powder Compact

Hey guys
Todays post is a review of Guerlain Météorites Teint Powder Compact
that was sent to me by the lovely people at Debenhams
and a bit of a fotd while we are at it :)

I've wanted to try any of the Guerlain meteorites poweders for so so long.
I remember my Nan having the Voyage compact when I was little and I always admired it!

It comes in a lovely little velvet pouch
and as it's the compact rather than the loose powder/balls its super easy to take with you places.

The packaging is really cute,
the pattern is classic Guerlain but with a modern twist
obviously it's not as luxurious as the Voyage compact,
but it still feels really good quality.

I chose shade 01 Rose as I am super pale,
and it's perfect for my skin tone.
As you can see I've worn down the pattern, as I've used it pretty much every day for 3 weeks
so it's had a thorough test!

Here is a swatch,
on bare skin there is not really a lot to see,
it's pale skin toned, with an ever so slight shimmer.
It it more matte than I had imagined,
especially compared to the meteorites shimmer balls I've tried.
I really like the combo of mainly matte with a tiny bit of shimmer
as it works really well to set your foundation,
giving you a finish that is slightly glowy without being glittery or too shimmery.

Here is what it looks like on, on top of my foundation with some bronzer aswell.
I used it all over my face with my kabuki, adding a little extra on my eye bags!
It only has a very slight colour but it works fantastically well in comination with your foundation
to create a flawless look.

Make-Up:

Benefit That Gal as my primer

Lancome Tient Idole 24H foundation in shade 005 (palest)
mixed with a little of Maybelline's bb cream in light
with a squirt of Mac strobe liquid
(to make the Lancome foundation less high coverage and a little more glowy)
to set and finish my foundation

With the Mac Wonderwoman Mineralise Skin finish in Pink Power as Bronzer

For my eyes I used the Soap and Glory Eyeshadow quad in  brown/neutral
a Brown no 7 eyeliner
and a miniature Clinique mascara

On my lips I used a Clinique chubby stick in Oversized Orange

Overall I'm really pleased with the product,
It works really well, and I would choose it over anything else I own to set my foundation.
The smell is quite strong, but I like it
(but it is something to consider if you are funny about that kind of thing)
It's quite pricey but I think it's worth the money
especially if you can ask for it as a birthday / Christmas present.

Have you tried any of the Guerlain Compacts?

Instagram Round Up 1

 Hi guys,
I'm loving instagram at the moment (I know, late to the party much)
So I thought I'd do a round up of my most recent pictures :)

This glorious beast of an egg is courtesy of my sister,
She originally didn't get me an egg, and then more than made up for it
by getting me this egg reduced this morning!
I can confirm it's delicious :)

As soon as I saw these shoes I wanted them,
£7.99 from Internacionale
They are kind of tropical print 'toms' type pumps.
They'd run out of my size in the adults ones,
so these are from the teen section, *yay for small feet*
but are essentially the same.

Here is a picture I took of myself before work (must have been a couple of weeks ago now)
I actually like how I look in this for a change so thought it was worth posting!
I like it when I have enough time to do good hair and make-up.

Here are the remains of a gorgeous Chinese meal that my mum, my sister and I went out for
I'm generally not a fan of eating out, but I actually really enjoyed it.

This is a picture of my name on the whiteboard at work.
It's a bit of a silly thing to post really
but I was actually super chuffed that I was the person who sold the most
shoe-care that week.
*easily pleased*

Last but not least,
I ended up spending a lot of time in the Liverpool area last month (with family)
and while I was there, managed to go to the cosmetics company outlet
at 'Cheshire Oakes'
Safe to say it was even more amazing than I had expected,
and I bought more mac than I should have.

Hope you enjoyed this post,
lots of exciting things happening over here in Launderette land,
I'm trying to get my life organised,
and that includes my blog too
so watch this space!

(btw I'm MillyCupcake on instagram)

Much Love

What Milly Wore: Topshop Tea Dress

Hi Guys,
Here is what I wore a few days ago :)

Black Cardigan: Topshop
Quite thin, very versatile, goes with anything!

Polka Dot Brown Tea Dress: Topshop (via the charity shop) £4.50
I spied this dress in the charity shop I volunteer in
and before I looked at the labels I thought it was topshop!
well it was, and I bought it,
Its a little on the small side in the boob department as its a 12
but I love it none the less.

Fairest of Them All Necklace: Disney Couture (gift from the boy a few years ago)
One of my fave necklaces,
very easy to wear, and has sentimental value
I got it for valentines day at least 3 or 4 years ago :)

Black Leggings: Primark £3
Seriously the best leggings ever
very high waisted and never fall down
I've been back and bought 2 more pairs since!

Tan Loafers: Office £50 ish
I wear these all the time, literally my go to shoes,
kinda expensive but so comfy and good quality leather

Leopard Print Bag: River Island (sale last year) £15
I love this bag,
I always feel a bit posh when I'm carrying it
I don't know why, it just looks expensive even though it wasn't

Lipstick: Either Mac Neon Orange, or Mac Morange
I wear them both regularly and they pretty much look the same!

What's your best charity shop bargain??

What Milly Wore: Gone Dotty

Hi Guys,
Here is an outfit that I wore last week and forgot to post about!

Polka Dot Silky Shirt: £20 Wallis (sale)
I almost never go into Wallis,
but I went in whilst shopping with my mum, and there was so much lovely stuff!
I was very surprised and will definitely be going back :)

Black & Gold Belt: Vintage £4 (Charity Shop)
Being unemployed for the first time since I've been old enough to work
I've had to rethink the way I shop,
and although I loved charity shop shopping before, I love it even more now!

Dark Blue Skinny Jeans: ASOS (sale)

Tan Loafers: Office
My go to comfy shoes.

Gold & Green Collar Necklace: Vintage £4 (Charity shop)
I have a lot to tell/show you about my recent charity shop finds
including this necklace so more on this in a later post.

AARRGHHHH Necklace: Tatty Devine
This necklace was technically free as I got it in a Tatty Devine swap/trade

and if you're wondering the lipstick is Mac Neon Orange, which I love
but actually can't tell the difference between that and Mac Morange
both of which I own

I liked this outfit muchly, but since these photos were taken
I have said goodbye to the semi mullet I had going on there:)

Yummy Pastel Lilac Hair,
I like it, a lot :)
I've washed it since and it's already much paler,
I'll have to keep topping it up regularly

Lipstick: Mac Morange
Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 in Baked
Skin: Laura Geller, Balance 'n' Brighten in Fair

Barry M Giveaway!!! NOTD, and Mac new arrivals!

Hey lovely readers of mine
still major busy in milly land
but I just had to show you this!

First off,
I bought quite a bit from mac this week

I've been super excited about the mac venomous villains collection for ages
so just couldn't resist when it came out!

I bought:
Nail Varnish: Mean  and Green
Nail Varnish: Bad Fairy
Nail Varnish: Formidable
Magically Cool Liquid Powder: Truth and Light

Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo: She Who Dares
as well as
Mac Face & Body Foundation in C1

Now I'm not going to do swatches etc as You've probably seen them all already!
Suffice to say I'm pleased with everything

Also I jumped on the band wagon
and bought Barry Ms Instant Nail Effect Nail Varnish

Now I'm sure you'll have seen this before too
but maybe not this combo?
Here is Barry M Nail Effects applied on top of Mac Villains Mean and Green
Amaze no?

Just one tip for the mac duo chromes,
apply 3 or 4 thin coats
I was pretty disappointed at first, but found with a few thin coats they look really effective

And then whilst having a play today I applied Barry M Nail effects over the top
I love the effect!
Make sure you read the instructions though,
just one quick coat with no overlapping
and then it transforms in front of your eyes!

I love the cracked effect
it looks different on each nail and my hands don't quite match,
but I don't really mind that as it looks like it took ages to do
and it really didn't!

I also applied a clear topcoat after as it dries quite matte,
and then voilà done!

I picked up one for you guys too,
as I know they are becoming a bit elusive

YAY GIVEAWAY!

To enter please comment below
I will draw the winner at random on Tuesday the 26th of October
so you only have 2 weeks!

hope you enjoyed this post,
I shall try and remember to take outfit pics soon!

New Arrival: Mac Haulidge! + NOTD

Good evening ladies!

I'm going to start by showing you my first ever nail of the day!

It's Nude Beige by models own, and I love it!
I quite like the mannequin hand look, and I'm loving concealer lip too lol!
Models own polishes tend to be really good, they hardly ever chip on me,
will deffo be going back for more!

Oh and the reason I've never done a NOTD before,
is because I have pretty diddy stumpy nails, and child hands!
Done even get me started on my thumb nails!

anyway

Onto the Haul!
(pic heavy)

This is the order that greeted me today!
I found it so hard to choose what to get!

In the end I chose the Beauty Powder in Shell Pearl,
I bought it to use as a blusher cos I'm pretty pale
The packaging is just too cute!

Its a lovely colour peachy and shimmery,
although I'm super red anyway, I've recently started to wear foundation
which just washes me out completely
So this should give me a bit of colour back!
As me and some of the girlies discusses in the comments of my foundation review!

I also got a lipstick in Blooming Lovely

Its a yummy mauvey colour,
a bit gagaesque!
It looks quite a bit lighter than this in R.L

Aswell as the lipstick and the face powder
I bought 2 of the Pearkglide eyeliners
and one Greasepaint stick

This is A Pearlglide Eyeliner in Blackline
Its black with a old gold shimmer, totally unique

I also got a pearlglide eyeliner in Industrial!
which is seriouslt the most amazing colour ever!
so hard to describe
uber shimmery teal blue,
kinda fairy like!

The swatches on temptalia show these tons better!

Last But not least
I got a Greasepaint Stick in Dirty
which is a brown taupe, with a stunning multicoloured shimmer!

phew that was a lot!

Here are my swatches,
sorry!
I tried my best

Top is with flash,
bottom with natural light!

I love everything I bought

wish I would have bought some lip markers too
but not enough funds!

do you own anything from these collections??
what do you think of the mannequin hands look??
and do you know anyone with funny thumbs like me?
I'm thinking of starting a support group :P

xXx
